Alice is a 1976 VW Kombi Automatic Campervan. She started life as a Microbus and was originally owned by the Electricity Authority of WA. She spent most of her life in the WA outback and has only been in NSW for the last 2 years. Testament to her outback life is all the red desert dust covering her underside.
As you can expect, the outback has been very good to Alice and she fortunately has virtually no rust which is unusual for a Kombi camper of her age. We have done a full number on the body including repairs and a full 2 pak respray in the original wattle yellow. All work was completed by a professional panel beater and spray painter with 30 years experience. To protect against future rust problems we have done a professional fish oil service so if you look after Alice you can be confident that she won't have any rust issues for years to come.
On the inside we have kept the original camper interior which is in relatively good condition for it's age and maintains the 70's retro charm of a Kombi camper. The front seats have been reupholstered in original style and the doorcards and flooring have been redone to keep with the original theme. The camper interior features cupboards, sink, a pull out bed in the poptop and a Rock-n-roll seat with seatbelts. The rear rock-n-roll seat is also legally registered to carry two passengers.
Alice is in great mechanical order. The 2L engine was reconditioned prior to us purchasing the Kombi and it is very strong and reliable. The automatic gearbox changes gears smoothly, easily and when it should. We have also spent close to $1,000 on mechanical work including four new ball joints, new front brake disc rotors and pads and wheel bearings so she drives, steers and brakes smoothly.
Alice has recently passed a NSW blue slip inspection and comes with registration till February. For interstate buyers I cannot provide a roadworthy certificate for your state though a NSW blue slip is difficult to obtain and is usually a fair indication that the vehicle will meet other states roadworthy requirements.
