Meet Amos, our 1975 VW Kombi Microbus with a 2L engine and gearbox. He was completely restored around 4-5 years ago.
In the time we have had it we have completely repaired any rust we could find (very minimal) and have resprayed the bottom half in one of our favourite VW colours - Olympia blue. All the rust and paintwork was completed by our panel beater/spray painter who has over 30 years professional experience. All work was completed under our personal supervision so we could ensure the job was completed to our satisfaction. The paintwork was completed in quality 2K Baslac paint (Made by BASF who also make Glasurit) and was completely cut and buffed before waxing to give it a final protection and shine.
The interior is just as good as the exterior. It has been completely reupholstered throughout including front and rear seats in velour trim, interior panels in moulded vinyl, floor coverings in black automotive carpet and a complete new rooflining. Up front you have bucket seats from a Honda which are extremely comfortable and in the rear is an original Kombi seat which has been reupholstered to match. What's more the rear seat is fitted with seatbelts for all passengers as well as a crab bar for baby seats so you can bring the whole family on your Kombi adventures.
Mechanically, as with everything else, you will not be disappointed. Just two months ago we spent close to $2,000 on the engine which includes a fully tested long block motor with new rings and heads as well as a new EMPI GT exhaust. The engine is very strong and has extremely good compression. We have completed a full tune up so it fires up easily and idles beautifully with the deep rumble of a good 2 litre engine. Not only is the engine great, but the gearbox, steering and suspension all feel exceptionally tight and smooth making Flipper 3 an absolute pleasure to drive. We recently took it to the Old Bar Kombi festival last month and it did the whole trip without a problem.
Other new parts and features include window and door rubbers, tail light and blinker lenses, window scrapers, window winders, grab handles, door step rubbers, hubcaps and wheel trims and a Sony CD/AUX stereo with four 6x9 speakers installed professionally in the doors and under the rear seat.
We have priced Amos at the higher end of the market as he is an exceptional Kombi and one that will in no ways disappoint.
If you are in the market for an exceptional restored Kombi please call Jared on 0459-525-903.
