Are you looking for a Kombi on a budget? That is pretty difficult to come by these days unfortunately as prices are climbing every month. This might just be the one you are looking for. Our 1976 Kombi Camper runs and drives great and comes with a full camper interior and registration in NSW till November 2018. It was previously owned by an old guy for close to 20 years who spent many years travelling in it. We Purchased it in November last year hoping to have adventures with our family, but due to certain family circumstances we can no longer keep her. It is a very sad and regretful sale but we hope we can find someone to love and enjoy our Kombi as much as we dearly wanted to.
As for the important things: The body: Yeah, as you can expect, there is some rust, but it has been kept down so if you look after it and keep it garaged you will be able to get many more years out of her before you need to think about a restoration. The paint isn't amazing as it was done in acrylic, but it does look presentable.
Mechanicals: It drives really well. The engine has been rebuilt not long ago and purrs nicely and happily cruises along the highway at 95. From what we gather, its the 2 Litre engine so it's the one to have. As for everything else, it recently passed a blue slip in November last year so it shouldn't need any repairs in the immediate future, but as with every Kombi, it will need love and maintenance as you go.
The interior is perhaps the coolest thing about our Kombi. It's fully decked out as a camper with a stove fridge and sink as well as a dual battery setup. It's got the typical 70's feel and the previous owner left a lot of his camping gear which really adds to the retro feel. It has a rock-n-roll seat so you can comfortably sleep in the back and also in the poptop. Like most campers, If you want to carry more than two people you will need to get it approved by an engineer which may involve fitting the ADR seat, but we can point you in the right direction to get this done.
Overall, this is an awesome Kombi that's ready to go as is and will make a great base for a restoration when you decide to do that in the years to come. Right now, just enjoy her as is!
